Featuring SINO₭IYETIL, Patrick Leon of Tq̓ic̓əy̓ (Katzie) and SȾÁUTW̱ (Tsawout)

Patrick Leon is Coast Salish from q̓ic̓əy̓ (Katzie) and SȾÁUTW̱ (Tsawout). Patrick is a singer, heart-filled speaker, cultural and mental health advocate, cultural and wellness gathering leader and facilitator of cultural education for government and private sector. His work is guided by Coast Salish values and teachings rooted in dedication and love for his family, community and the wellbeing of all people. Patrick was taught by his late parents and grandparents to honour and respect people’s gifts – from the youngest to the oldest in the room. In addition, Patrick developed knowledge through mentorship by Coast Salish Elders and Knowledge Keepers. In recent years Patrick initiated a community wellness group and culture night in SȾÁUTW̱. Culture night started with a few people and has grown to host up to 100 people weekly. Patrick embodies Nuts a maht (We are one) and brings the respect and humility of this teaching into all his work.
